Picking blueberries at Quinta do Pincho Blueberry Farm
Picking berries is a fun, healthy activity the whole family can do together, you can even bring your dog along! The berries are grown 100% organically so feel free to eat as many as you like while picking! Our 3-year-old did not throw too many into the bucket, but she looked like she was going for some kind of berry-eating record, smiling and chewing non-stop. This is a popular activity with children. We arrived at 9 am on a Thursday and had the plantation to ourselves for about 45 minutes before 2 more families dogs in tow arrived. The plantations are nestled in the hills of the Pincho Valley making for a beautiful natural farm in nature. On arrival, you get a bucket and can pick and eat as many berries as you like from the 7 plantations woven into the natural fauna. Your berries get weighed when you are finished and only buy the berries you want to take home, you can leave the rest.
Healthy, Safe, Organically Grown Berries
The berries are 100% organically grown without adding pesticides or chemicals. The acidic soil of the area is fantastic for growing blueberries and naturally keeps any pests away. You will notice the same white layer on the berries that you see on berries that you buy in the shop. This white waxy coating is 100% natural from the berries and is called bloom. It helps to protect the fruit from diseases and is a protective barrier against insects and bacteria.
